I love to travel. Technically, I’ve been traveling since I was a few years old (though not for ideal reasons at first, being born in a war zone with a heart defect and all.)
I used to love being at the airport itself — soaking in, anticipating, the potential of what’s to come.
My first solo trip was to Chile. I was subscribed to a discount flights newsletter, and the alert came in: Washington D.C. to Santiago, Chile, a journey of over 12,000 miles for only $150 round trip. How could I refuse? I didn’t have the money to spare, but being 19 years old I had a credit card.
I didn’t know anything about Chile except that they spoke Spanish, and I didn’t know Spanish. Besides not knowing anyone as impulsive as me, the price also happened to jump back to the normal close-to-$1,000 after I booked it.
That didn’t matter. I went there by myself, and felt the warmth that humanity had to offer. It’s made me comfortable with solo travel ever since.
I never thought I would start a blog about travel. Although I’ve been a whiz kid, programming since I was 12-13 and I’ve had blogs and sites, I never really wrote much cause nothing excited me. Then randomly today, I was wondering how I could market my product (that’s my problem, whenever I tried writing it was always with the aim of trying to sell stuff.)
Seeing that this was in the travel niche, I was thinking of opening an eCommerce store selling travel related products, because trying to sell just this one product by itself would really be a futile endeavor when you take into consideration the low price point and how much effort needs to go into marketing something.
Stepping back even further, I thought about how I would create content to promote the store, and something just clicked inside me. I would create the content, and somehow the feeling of writing about travel excited me.
Writing this comes easy to me and it’s fun. So, I hope to see you again in my future content!
